Each month, the students of Saint James the Apostle School attend Mass.
Students in Grades 3 through 8 are given the opportunity to be the leaders of Mass. This means the students serve in the various ministries as altar servers, lectors, cantors, choir members, gift bearers, greeters and even as musicians. Mass is a wonderful opportunity for the students to take the lead and have a great experience.
Students in Grades 3 through 8 are also leaders of Stations of the Cross during the season of Lent. Individual students stand by each Station of the Cross to read a passage aloud and interact with the priest. Others bear the Cross and candles and still others will play piano and lead the school in a response.
Participation in Mass and Stations of the Cross builds a sense of community within the classes in charge and the students look forward to their turn to serve God and each other.
