CYO Basketball

Saint James participates in the Union County CYO Basketball League.  The program is open to girls and boys in grades second through eighth who attend  Saint James the Apostle School or Religious Education.  The league plays a 12 game schedule from November through March with all games played on the weekends at local parish or school gyms.

The focus of the program is to:

  • teach young children the fundamentals of basketball
  • foster team work and team spirit
  • provide competitive athletic challenges
  • provide an opportunity for children to engage in sports in a Catholic environment of fun and cooperation

All teams are coached by dedicated volunteer parents from our Saint James the Apostle community.

  • Rookie:  developmental league for boys and girls in the second grade
  • Pee Wee:  developmental league for boys and girls in the third and fourth grade
  • JV:  competitive travel division for boys and girls in fifth and sixth grade
  • Varsity:  competitive travel division for boys and girls in  seventh and eight grade

The season ends with the Jim McElroy Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint James the Apostle Parish Community.
